Dr. Michael Tortorici completed his Bachelors degree in Psychology and Biology at Rutgers College/Rutgers University. He received his Doctor of Optometry degree at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry after completing internships at Wilmington Veteran’s Hospital in Wilmington, Delaware and the Atlanta Eye Surgery Group in Atlanta, Georgia.

Dr. Tortorici joined The Phillips Eye and Hudson Eye Specialists as Clinic Director in 2000. He is an active member of the American Optometric Association, New Jersey Society of Optometric Physicians (NJSOP), and the Hudson County Society of Optometric Physicians. He formerly served on the Board of Directors for the NJ Society of Optometric Physicians and also chair of the Members Recruitment and Benefits Center for the NJSOP. Dr. Tortorici has become one of the first optometrists in the nation to obtain status of Diplomate of the American Board of Optometry in 2012.

Dr. Tortorici has frequently participated in the “Opening Eyes” program for the New Jersey chapter of the summer games at the Special Olympics. He is committed to working closely with local optometric physicians and frequently provides educational lectures to the optometric community regarding the latest advancements in eye care with special interest in dry eyes, anterior segment disease, and surgical co-management.
